The Rub Tree Special bundle is designed for versatility but mainly with the focus of setting your own rub tree. If you haven't seen us use rub trees or heard of it, make sure to let us know and we'd be happy to guide you. It is one of our most used and successful tools when it comes to locating and harvesting large mature whitetails. The Rub Tree Special includes all the scents we use to start and continue rub trees as well as our patent pending Scrape Rake that allows you to scar up any tree and make deep gashes to allow the Buck Junkie Oil to drip into the wood on any kind of tree. This bundle gives you all the tools you need to start a successful rub tree and keep it active throughout the season. The only thing you'll need is to get a tree limb and put it in the ground for your rub tree! (Make sure you put your rub tree where you can shoot it, because you'll probably have a buck come to it during daylight hours on the hunt!)
Bundle Includes:
- Buck Junkie Oil (To start your rub tree and keep it fresh)
- Buck Junkie Spray (To use after your rub is active and to disperse more scent.)
- Scrape King Spray (To introduce a new buck and keep your rub active.)
- Scrape Rake (To scar up your rub tree before applying Buck Junkie Spray.)
Ideal Time To Use: When your deer start shedding velvet all the way through the Rut. The Rub Tree Special is the start of a deer hunting tactic that will change the way you hunt them. We use this combination of scents (in Iowa) starting around mid August and carry it through the end of the rut. We start with putting a 3-5" Eastern White Pine tree limb in the ground about 2' below the surface. We then use our Scrape Rake to scar the limb and make deep grooves for our Buck Junkie Oil to soak into. Depending on when your deer come out of velvet, this may take a week to 3-4 weeks for them to start hitting it. But once one deer starts to rub on it, sit back and watch the show as the rest of the bucks in that area will start coming specifically to your rub tree just to rub it or check if other deer have been by.
*Raised Scents are made of natural glandular oils from deer. Please check your state's regulations for laws of using natural lures.*
Buck Junkie
Scrapes are cool... but Rub Trees + Buck Junkie = Consistent Success.
Just about any of us who have hunted long enough have had the opportunity to watch a buck throw his head against a tree and start tossing bark left and right. As cool as it is to watch, most of the time that deer or other ones may never come back to that same rub again.
On the other hand, there is one specific type of rub that you will often see deer come back to year after year. That's what we call a "Sign Post" rub. Most hunters may never find a TRUE sign post rub, and if you do, it is frustrating when it's in a location where you can't shoot to it. That's where putting your very own rub tree in the ground comes in. We take limbs specifically from Easter White Pine trees that are 3-4" in diameter, and put them about 20-24" in the ground. Then we apply Buck Junkie Oil to start it.Strategically in front of our stands. If you are looking to get a buck doing something consistently or checking frequently even during the rut and in daylight hours, this is the way to go.
We love our scrapes early season, but when it comes to the randomness of the rut, you will almost always find us sitting near one of our rub trees with some fresh Buck Junkie on it.
